From 1978 - 2001 David Lutz taught classes in Lied and Oratorio and in Vocal Accompanying at the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien (Conservatory of the City of Vienna). Since 1994 Professor (since 2001 Full Professor) for Vocal Accompanying at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (University for Music and Applied Arts in Vienna). Since 2015 he is Professor Emeritus.
David Lutz gave master classes in Lied for duos (singer & accompanist) in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan, China, and Europe.
